It’s deja vu for the Rangers, as Corey Seager is back on the injured list with a hamstring strain. That was one of several injury updates from May 13, as the Yankees, Dodgers, and Guardians were among the teams active on the IL front.

LeMahieu back, Cabrera on IL

The Yankees got back DJ LeMahieu from the injured list on May 13, marking his return to the Majors. LeMahieu finished a rehab assignment after returning from a left calf strain that forced him to miss more than a month of the 2025 season.

In a corresponding move, the Yankees placed Oswaldo Cabrera on the 10-day IL with a fractured left ankle. Cabrera came down awkwardly on the ankle while sprinting home on a sacrifice fly from Aaron Judge (warning: viewer discretion advised).

Seager returns to injured list

For the second time this season, Corey Seager is on the injured list. Seager was placed on the 10-day IL after re-aggravating his hamstring this past Saturday against the Tigers.

It’s the second time Seager is on the IL this season with a right hamstring strain.

Texas activated Kyle Higashioka from the injured list to replace Seager on the active roster.

Updates on Dodgers pitchers

Let’s start with the good news. Clayton Kershaw will return from the injured list on May 17 to make his 2025 MLB season debut. Kershaw’s rehab is officially done. The left-hander struck out 16 over 21 innings in the Minors during his assignment.

As for the bad news, Roki Sasaki, who has dealt with diminished velocity, was placed on the injured list with a shoulder impingement.

Rehab assignments

It was opening day for Ronald Acuna Jr., who began his rehab assignment on May 13 in the Florida Complex League. Acuna Jr. went 1-3 with a home run. He played the first six innings of the game but did play in right field.

Angels reliever Sam Bachman tossed a scoreless inning on May 13. Bachman topped out at 98 MPH with his two-seamer. And in Low-A, Robert Stephenson gave up one run and struck out one over one inning with Inland Empire (A).

Giants infielders Tyler Fitzgerald and Casey Schmitt both went 1-3 with a strikeout with Sacramento (AAA).
