The Nationals will be without a key piece for the near future, as 2024 All-Star CJ Abrams is out with a hip injury. Aside from Abrams, several others went on the IL on April 12, including Marcus Stroman of the Yankees.

Abrams hit injured list

The Nationals lost their leadoff hitter for a bit, as shortstop CJ Abrams landed on the IL with a right hip flexor strain.

Abrams left the Nationals’ game on April 12 after aggravating the hip on a stolen base attempt. The Washington shortstop, who was hitting .244 on the season with four home runs, missed two games of the Nats’ series with the Dodgers thanks to the nagging hip.

Washington recalled former Rule 5 Draft pick Nasim Nunez.

Stroman on IL

Yankees starter Marcus Stroman had a rough start in the rain on April 11, as the right-hander gave up four hits and five earned runs without finishing the game. After the game, Aaron Boone noted Stroman went to the hospital to have one of his knees looked at.

A day later, Stroman went on the IL with left knee inflammation. Stroman had an 11.57 ERA through three starts.

The Yankees recalled starter Allan Winans from Triple-A.
