It’s the third full week of the 2025 fantasy baseball season, meaning a new list of hitters to target on the waiver wire. At this point, many of the top risers are gone from the free agent pool. But, there’s still plenty of talent to be found.
Best Week 3 hitters to target
- OF Sal Frelick (Brewers)
- OF Jung Hoo Lee (Giants)
- 2B/3B/SS/OF Zach McKinstry (Tigers)
- C Sean Murphy (Braves)
- 2B Jorge Polanco (Mariners)
Before getting into Week 3, let’s talk quickly about the Week 2 list.
Jacob Wilson is batting .368 and is tied with Jackson Chourio for the most hits (21) in MLB. He’s gone in most leagues. The same can be said for Brendan Donovan, who had another strong week and is not far behind with 20.
Kyle Manzardo, meanwhile, is cold with a .125 average in April. But, he still ranks among the top-20 in home runs (4).
Now, on to Week 3.
Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee was an accomplished hitter in Korea and looked good in spurts last season. Ultimately, a left shoulder dislocation ended his rookie season early. But so far, Lee looks in rare form.
The 26-year-old is batting .333 with a home run and three stolen bases. Lee likely won’t hit for too much home run power in San Francisco but the 10% Barrel% is impressive thus far. Plus, he won’t strike out much and gets on base a lot. That’s critical when it comes to runs scored. In fact, Lee scored 14 runs in 13 games, one shy of the 15 he had in 2024.
He’s the big target on this week’s list.
Another player who dealt with injury last year — and this year, as well — was Sean Murphy. Murphy had a dreadful season in 2024 and had a delayed start to this season thanks to a rib issue.
But in his first at-bat. Murphy turned on a gift, a backed-up breaking ball from Zack Wheeler that he launched into the stands in Atlanta. Four days later, Murphy cracked two home runs in the hitter-friendly confines of Steinbrenner Field.

Catchers are tough to come by. Get Murphy while you can.
Next up is Zack McKinstry of the Tigers. Anytime a player can play four positions, the eyes begin to light up. And look, McKinstry’s been a well-known fantasy commodity for years. His flaws are known: McKinstry is not a consistent hitter, nor a prolific power hitter. The veteran infielder has never had a double-digit home run season.
However, McKinstry is rolling to start 2025. McKinstry hit .350 with eight runs scored, eight RBI, and 14 total hits over the first 12 games of the year.
McKinstry had 32 stolen bases between 2023-24. Yes, he can help in that category. But perhaps the better option on that front is Sal Frelick, who hit .235 between April 6-11 but still had a .340 average heading into April 12.
The one flaw in Frelick’s toolset is power. Even though Frelick added muscle this offseason, don’t expect the former BC star to light it up in the power numbers.
Nonetheless, his ability to control the bat and his speed make him a more appealing option than Jake Meyers, who actually led MLB in stolen bases from April 6-11 but is a career .230/.295/.371 (.666 OPS) hitter.
Lastly, I telegraphed my interest this week in Jorge Polanco in the risers & fallers list. Polanco is healthy and hitting. The 31-year-old hit .419/.438/.710 (1.148 OPS) with three home runs and 13 hits over his first 33 plate appearances.
