Several notable players got themselves off the injured list on April 11, namely Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman. However, that list grew for several teams, including rival San Diego. Meanwhile, in Chicago, the Cubs want Justin Steele to get his left elbow checked further.
Cubs want second opinion on Steele’s elbow
Cubs left-hander Justin Steele was placed on the IL with elbow tendinitis on April 10, the second straight season he’s hit the injured list with elbow trouble. Now, the Cubs are looking to see if there’s something more to it.
The Cubs have sent Steele out for a second opinion on the elbow. Chicago stated Steele was expected to miss the minimum amount of time. That, however, could change.
Steele missed two weeks last September with left elbow tendinitis.
Padres’ IL list grows
Jake Cronenworth joined Jackson Merrill on the injured list on April 11. Cronenworth was diagnosed with a rib fracture, days after he left the Padres’ game on April 8 against the Athletics.
San Diego does not have a timetable for Cronenworth’s return.
Additionally, the Padres shifted pitcher Matt Waldron from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL. Waldron is recovering from a left oblique muscle strain.
Other injury news
