The first MLB The Show 25 Weekend Classic was set to start on April 11, also the first installment of the mode in general. However, that did not happen as scheduled. Technical problems have caused the Weekend Classic to be put on hold — for now.
Before the launch of the 2nd Inning Program and other content for Diamond Dynasty on April 11, the MLB The Show 25 servers were briefly unavailable. Sony San Diego (SDS) acknowledged the problem on X.
“We’re currently investigating issues with Diamond Dynasty mode. Thank you for your patience while we work on a resolution,” the MLB The Show 25 team stated on social media.
Diamond Dynasty functionality returned a few minutes later. However, the developer added that Weekend Classic, scheduled to start at 3 PM ET, would be delayed.
Nearly four hours later, SDS wrote on X that the developers were shutting down the MLB The Show 25 servers for maintenance at 7 PM ET, with nine minutes notice. Maintenance was scheduled to last roughly 60 minutes, barring any setbacks. And, it affects all game modes that have online capabilities, including Diamond Dynasty.
However, one could still get on to Diamond Dynasty as of 7:45 PM ET.
The goal. per Sony, was to begin Weekend Classic shortly thereafter the maintenance.
Weekend Classic was added into MLB The Show 25, giving online competitive its version of Weekend League/Champions. It’s a limited-time game mode that runs in conjunction with Ranked Seasons, giving players a chance at better rewards.
It’s unknown as of this writing whether Sony plans on makegoods or changing the schedule for the Weekend Classic, which was scheduled to end on April 15 at 3 PM ET.
