Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez has been instrumental for the Dodgers’ offense this year, which ranked third in runs scored as of May 6. However, Los Angeles will be without the star slugger for some time thanks to a groin injury.
Teoscar placed on IL
The Dodgers placed outfielder and MLB RBI leader Teoscar Hernandez on the 10-day IL with a left groin strain on May 6. And for those hoping for a quick IL stint, that’s not expected.
Manager Dave Roberts said he’ll be out for “certainly weeks.” However, the team doesn’t have a timetable.
Los Angeles recalled outfielder James Outman.
Yandy leaves game
Rays 1B/DH Yandy Diaz left Tampa’s game on May 6 with right hip tightness, per the team. Christopher Morel came into the game for him in the sixth inning.
Manager Kevin Cash said the injury wasn’t too serious.
Rehab assignments
Brandon Woodruff continued his rehab assignment with Nashville (AAA) on May 6. Woodruff threw 83 pitches against Norfolk, and he struck out six over five frames. He capped out at 95 MPH with his four-seamer and two-seamer.
Also in Triple-A, Mets pitcher Paul Blackburn continued his rehab with Syracuse. Blakburn, not a hard thrower, hit 92 MPH and struck out five over 3.2 IP.
Indianapolis (AAA) had two rehabbers, Dauri Moreta and Spencer Horwitz. Horwitz went 2-4 and stayed in for the entire game. Moreta struck out three over a scoreless inning.
Moving to the rookie leagues, Clayton Kershaw tossed six shutout innings and struck out in the ACL. Opposing Kershaw was Rhett Lowder, who struck out five over three innings. Aaron Ashby (Brewers) gave up three hits and two walks over 1.2 IP. And in the FCL, Yankees reliever Scott Effross tossed a scoreless inning.
DJ LeMahieu was scheduled to play with Scranton (AAA) but their game was postponed.
Other injury news
San Diego activated Jackson Merrill before their game on the 6th against the Yankees. Dylan Moore (Mariners) and Yoan Moncada (Angels) were also activated.
The Rays placed Hunter Bigge on the 15-day IL with a right lat strain.
Reds outfielder Tyler Callihan, who broke his forearm yesterday, was placed on the 10-day IL.
