The Dodgers are being cautious with injured pitcher Tyler Glasnow, per the team, one of several updates on April 30. Additionally, the Guardians announced how pitchers Shane Bieber & John Means, plus others, are doing in their recovery processes.

Dodgers shutting down Glasnow

Per manager Dave Roberts, the Dodgers will keep Tyler Glasnow shut down for at least the next 10 to 14 days, as he recovers from shoulder inflammation.

Glasnow left his start on April 27 and was placed on the IL.

Guardians provide updates on injuries

In a lengthy release on April 30, the Guardians provided updates on several injured players:

  • Shane Bieber has progressed through his bullpen sessions and will begin to throw live BP in May. Bieber was recently transferred to the 60-day IL in a procedural move.
  • Prospect Daniel Espino is currently in the bullpen stage of his recovery from anterior capsule revision repair. Once that’s done, he’ll move on to live BP sessions.
  • John Means, signed in the offseason, is expected to start throwing bullpen sessions in mid-May.
  • Erik Sabrowski is expected to resume mound work within the next week after experience recent soreness.
  • David Fry is anticipated to get to the game progression stage in May.

Mets down another lefty

The Mets received more bad news on the 30th, as lefty Danny Young was placed on the 15-day IL with a left elbow strain. Brooks Raley was transferred to the 60-day IL, and the Mets recalled Chris Devenski and Brandon Waddell.

Waddell, who came into the game on the 30th to piggyback, is one of two left-handed pitchers on the Mets roster. The other is David Peterson.

Other injury news

Mike Trout left the Angels’ game on April 30 with left knee soreness.

The Reds placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario on the 10-day IL with a lumbar spine strain. It’s retroactive to April 28.

Chicago moved Javier Assad to the 60-day IL.

Clayton Kershaw continued his rehab assignment with Oklahoma City (AAA). Kershaw tossed five innings (66 pitches) and struck out four. He gave up four hits and walked one. His max velocity was 89.1 MPH per Statcast.

Brandon Woodruff got the win for Wisconsin (A+) on April 30. Woodruff, on his rehab assignment, struck out three over 5.2 IP but gave up just three hits. More importantly, he tossed 74 pitches in the outing.
