Major League Baseball kicked off the ALDS and NLDS on October 4. And with it came injury news. Bo Bichette and Bryan Woo were among the injured players not listed on their respective teams’ rosters. Jackson Chourio, meanwhile, had to exit early in the Brewers’ first playoff game of 2025.

Notable players left off DS rosters

On October 4, teams had to finalize their rosters for the ALDS and NLDS. Here are notable notes:

  • Mariners P Bryan Woo (pec) was left off the Seattle roster. Josh Naylor (groin) is on the roster after he missed the final game of the regular season. However, Naylor may go on paternity leave during the series, which would temporarily open up a spot in Seattle’s roster.
  • Dodgers C Will Smith is on the roster for the NLDS, as he was for the Wild Card. However, he’s not in the lineup for Game 1.
  • The Blue Jays left Bo Bichette (knee) and Chris Bassitt (back) off their roster for the ALDS. Additionally, Jose Berrios (elbow) was also off the roster.

Chourio leaves Game 1 with hamstring injury

Milwaukee outfielder Jackson Chourio helped extend the Brewers’ lofty lead in Game 1 to 9-1 during the second inning off an infield single. However, after Chourio ran it out, he bent over and left the game after being checked on.

The Brewers confirmed that Chourio is dealing with hamstring tightness. He’ll be further evaluated. It’s worth noting that Milwaukee and Chicago have a day off before Game 2 of the NLDS.

Butler underwent surgery

Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler underwent surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon after the season ended. The news was confirmed by the team.

Butler batted .234 with 21 home runs and 22 stolen bases this season for the A’s.

Locklear requires elbow and shoulder surgery

Diamondbacks first baseman Tyler Locklear will require operations to repair his left elbow and shoulder later this month (h/t AZ Central).

Locklear suffered both a labrum injury and ligament tear in the elbow.
