On September 15, the six teams in the Arizona Fall League announced tentative rosters for the 2026 season. There are a lot of notable prospects going to Arizona, including several former first-rounders. Plus, a handful of Major Leaguers who need the extra work.
Notable players headed to Arizona
Glendale
Briggs McKenzie (Braves) only made seven starts this season in A-ball this year but was very good. The left-hander struck out 31 over 26 innings between Augusta and Rome. McKenzie was a fourth-round bonus baby from the 2025 MLB Draft.
He’ll be joined by Tate Southisene, the Braves’ first-rounder from 2025.
Easton Carmichael, Wyatt Sanford, and Jhonny Severino (Pirates) all hit well in A-ball this season. Severino led the South Atlantic League in home runs (31).
Other notable hitters include Caleb Bonemer (White Sox), Charles Davalan (Dodgers), and Eduardo Quintero (Dodgers).
Mesa
The Blue Jays are sending Jake Bloss and Brandon Barriera to the AFL. It’s a big year for Barriera, a former first-rounder who will be eligible for the Rule 5 Draft in December.
Najer Victor, an Angels pitching prospect and a star with Team Great Britain in the WBC, will also be among the pitchers.
Arjun Nimmala (Angels) and Myles Bailey (Cubs) are among the notable hitters. Bailey, a second-round pick by the Cubs in 2026, will get his first pro action after he suffered a season-ending leg injury with Florida State earlier this year.
Peoria
Brandon Clarke (Cardinals), acquired from the Red Sox last winter, is one of several notable pitchers. Nate Dohm (Cardinals), Winyer Chourio (Padres), Kiefer Lord (Orioles), and Luke Holman (Reds) are among the other hurlers to watch.
Ty Harvey, a Padres prospect who missed significant time, will be on the Javelinas alongside slugging C/OF Boston Smith (Mariners).
Former first-rounders Vance Honeycutt (Orioles), Ike Irish (Orioles), and Tai Peete (Cardinals) are among the other position players.
Salt River
Jarlin Susana (Nationals) and Patrick Forbes (Diamondbacks) are among the pitching prospects who will make up for lost time. So will Sean Sullivan, who saw time with the Rockies in 2026.
Dax Kilby (Yankees) and Demetrio Crisantes (Diamondbacks) are among the headlining position players.
Scottsdale
After an electric 2025 campaign, making the NL All-Star team, Randy Rodriguez missed all of 2026 thanks to elbow surgery. He’ll get an opportunity to rehab down in Scottsdale.
He’ll be joined by Giants prospect Miguel Mendez, one of the best prospects in the system based on pure stuff.
The Scorpions have, perhaps, the best crop of position players, including Zyhir Hope (Tigers), Nathan Flewelling (Rays), Bryce Rainer (Tigers), and Braylon Payne (Brewers), among others.
Surprise
Justin Lamkin (Royals) and hard-throwing reliever Ryan Lambert (Mets) are among the notable pitchers.
Zion Rose, the Royals‘ first-rounder from 2026, will be joined by Dante Nori (Phillies), Cole Mathis (Mets), Aroon Escobar (Phillies), and Welbyn Francisca (Guardians).
We’ll have more on the 2026 AFL rosters, including in-depth roster looks, by the end of September.
