Thanks to a well-below-.500 conference schedule in the SEC, the Missouri Tigers did not make the 2026 NCAA tournament. It’s been a grind in the most powerful conference in the country for Mizzou, and the club had to do restructuring again during the summer.

The Returnees

There are only 17 returning players from 2026, as the pros and transfer portal, coupled with graduations, took away a healthy chunk of last year’s club.

Donovan Jordan is one of the notable returning hitters. The former Texas Longhorn picked up 25 hits, three of which were home runs, over 33 games for the Tigers last year. Eric Maisonet, who played 43 games for Mizzou in 2026, is also back as one of the primary returning regulars.

Other bats who are back for 2027 are Leo Humbert and Juliomar Campos.

There are a lot more pitchers back from the 2026 season. Most notably, left-hander Brady Kehlenbrink, who struck out 100 batters last year and finished two behind Josh McDevitt for the team lead.

Eli Skidmore and Sam Rosand, two freshmen who saw a healthy amount of time out of the bullpen last year, are among the other notable pitchers back for 2027. Jackson Sobel, Luke Fricker, Trey Lawrence, Juan Villarreal, and Luke Sullivan are also back.

The Newcomers

The 2026 season was a strong one for High Point, which won 37 games and had some notable successes during the regular season. The Panthers split the season series with Wake Forest and took a road series against Florida in March. Heading into 2027, the Missouri Tigers have High Point’s best batter from that season.

That would be senior catcher SeoJun Oh, who led High Point in home runs (17) and RBI (60) last year. Oh took his walks, too, with 36 over 56 games. But against advanced competition in the Cape Cod League, Oh showed an aggressive side, swinging at almost 54% of the pitches he saw.

Charlie Wortham came over from Mississippi State. Wortham, a catcher, did not see any time in 2026, as he redshirted before coming over to Missouri.

Missouri also grabbed another SEC redshirt player from 2026, former Texas pitcher Jadyn Furgason.

The Tigers grabbed two players from the state of New Mexico. Former Lobos outfielder Anthony Diaz led New Mexico in hits (65) last season, part of a campaign in which he posted a .401 on-base percentage. Steve Solorzano led New Mexico State in average (.341), home runs (9), and RBI (51).

Mizzou also has seven new freshmen: Nolan Sissom, Dylan Curtis, Seaton Thompson, Zach Van Hook, Milo Burton, Codey Gauff, and Myles Ross.
