This is the final risers & fallers list for the 2026 fantasy baseball season, which is now complete. And while there’s nothing left to do, at least for now, this last week was an opportunity to gather from early intel for the 2027 season (yes, that will be around the corner).
Risers
- 1B Pete Alonso (Orioles)
- 3B Nolan Arenado (D-Backs)
- OF Carson Benge (Mets)
- SP Jared Jones (Pirates)
- SP Eury Perez (Marlins)
- OF Lucas Spence (Astros)
We have to give some love to two players who started 2026 with their stocks low but raised them considerably come the end of the year.
Carson Benge finished with 11 hits in the Majors over the final week, tied with Nolan Arenado for the league lead. Arenado, by the way, finished the year with 30 home runs, which was his most in four years. Not too bad for a renaissance year on a deeper club, compared to the 2025 Cardinals.
Both players will be more sought after come 2027. Benge, who had a 20-20 season, will very likely be a top-100 player. Arenado should be close.
Pete Alonso, meanwhile, had five home runs in the final week to finish with 43 home runs and 113 RBI. He may very well be the top first baseman available come next year.
Rookie outfielder Lucas Spence had a breakout weekend in Sacramento, part of a four-home-run week for the Houston Astro.
Speaking of risers, Jared Jones and Eury Perez were electric. Perez struck out 11 over 10 scoreless innings. Jones, who was on our Week 25 waiver wire target list, struck out 14 over 11 scoreless & notched a win.
Fallers
- 2B Ozzie Albies (Braves)
- SP Bubba Chandler (Pirates)
- SP Nick Martinez (Rays)
- SS Colson Montgomery (White Sox)
- 1B Josh Naylor (Mariners)
- OF Jordan Walker (Cardinals)
Yikes. Colson Montgomery went 0-for-22 in the final week with 11 strikeouts. Montgomery set the single-season strikeout record, which is not exactly the biggest deal from a fantasy perspective. After all, an out is an out. Plus, Montgomery did hit 31 home runs this season.
Still, that kind of week can be a killer, especially at the end.
Jordan Walker went 3-for-22, Josh Naylor went 2-for-23, and Ozzie Albies went 2-for-21. Both Albies and Walker will be arrows up heading into 2027. The same can’t be said for Naylor, who had just 10 home runs in his first full season with the Mariners.
As for the pitchers, Bubba Chandler ended his year on a sour note. The rookie walked four and allowed six earned runs over 2.2 IP. Nick Martinez was hit around in Philadelphia on the 27th, which was a must-win game for the Phillies.
