Alonso leaves with head injury
Orioles first baseman Pete Alonso departed early on the 30th after he was hit on the helmet by a 95 MPH fastball from Kade Morris.
Manager Craig Albernaz indicated that Alonso is fine.
De La Cruz departs early
Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz was pulled during the seventh inning of their game against the Cubs.
Per the team, it was due to left quad tightness. Manager Terry Francona indicated that there is a chance he plays on the 31st (h/t Fox 19).
IL moves
One day after he was carted off the field at Tropicana Field, the Padres placed infielder Luis Rengifo on the 10-day IL with a right knee sprain. Additionally, Gavin Sheets was placed on the injured list with a left foot sprain.
Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was placed on the 10-day IL with a right hip impingement.
Mariners starter Emerson Hancock was placed on the 15-day IL with a left adductor strain.
The Giants placed reliever Sam Hentges on the 15-day IL with a left forearm strain.
Angels pitcher George Klassen was placed on the 15-day IL with left low back inflammation.
Rehab assignments
Mets infielder Mark Vientos went 4-for-5 with three home runs for Triple-A Syracuse.
Tigers outfielder Riley Greene went 1-for-2 with two walks for Triple-A Toledo.
Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta struck out seven over 4.1 scoreless innings (64 pitches) for Triple-A El Paso. Pivetta averaged 93 MPH and topped out at 94 MPH.
The Dodgers had two rehabbers with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Blake Treinen tossed 1.1 scoreless innings, while Will Smith went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts.
Zac Gallen struck out two and walked two over 1.2 IP (46 pitches) for Triple-A Reno. Gallen averaged 93 MPH and topped out at 94 MPH.
Nationals outfielder James Wood went 1-for-3 with a home run for Double-A Harrisburg.
Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin went 1-for-3 with a strikeout for Double-A Altoona.
Other notes
Marlins infielder Xavier Edwards was pulled with left thumb and elbow discomfort.
Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras is dealing with hamstring tightness, per the team.
Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge will join the club during their West Coast road trip, and he is expected to ramp up baseball activities.
