It’s been a bad week for baseball players and hamate bones. Multiple players will miss significant time this spring thanks to broken hamate bones. Corbin Carroll and Jackson Holliday join Francisco Lindor as individuals dealing with said injury.

Carroll out with broken hamate bone

The Diamondbacks will be without Corbin Carroll for most of camp. Carroll suffered a broken hamate bone in his right hand during a live batting practice session and will undergo surgery this week. His status for Opening Day is unknown.

Additionally, Carroll will miss the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The Diamondbacks outfielder was listed on Team USA’s initial roster set earlier this month.

Holliday also out with broken hamate bone

The Orioles will also be without a key piece of their team. Jackson Holliday will miss at least the start of the 2026 season after he suffered a broken hamate bone during a live batting practice session.

Per the team, Holliday’s injury occurred on February 6.

Additionally, the Orioles will be without Jordan Westburg, at least to begin the spring. Westburg tweaked his oblique several weeks ago and may miss the team’s first few spring games.

Lindor needs surgery

Speaking of hamate bones, the Mets announced that shortstop Francisco Lindor will have surgery on his hand, one day after the team stated that he would be evaluated for a stress reaction.

Lindor’s status for Opening Day 2026 remains unknown.

Updates on Phillies’ injuries

The Phillies provided updates on several injured players.

Orion Kerkering is dealing with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and is behind in camp. Daniel Robert (shoulder) and Michael Mercado are also behind the healthy players.

In other interesting news, Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler told the media that he kept the rib that was removed during his thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, done after he was having nerve problems with his shoulder. Wheeler stated that he is happy with his progress.

Hader behind in camp

Lastly, Josh Hader stated he is behind after he was diagnosed with biceps tendinitis nearly two weeks.

Hader, who missed the last third of the 2025 season, is hopeful that he will be ready for Opening Day.
