It was a very notable day on the injury front for the Toronto Blue Jays, as there are updates on three players from the club. Plus, Geraldo Perdomo left early on August 10, and Carlos Correa & Will Smith are making progress.
Updates on Blue Jays’ injuries
Before the Blue Jays’ game against the Red Sox, Kazuma Okamoto was scratched due to a left knee contusion. But that wasn’t all for the Jays.
Starter Jameson Taillon was removed from his start against Boston after four innings due to forearm discomfort.
As for Spencer Arrighetti, he was diagnosed with a skin issue on his foot that has led to nerve problems.
Perdomo leaves
Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo had to leave early on August 10 due to injury.
Perdomo is dealing with left knee soreness.
Chapman done for 2026
The Giants officially ruled Matt Chapman out for the rest of 2026, as he’s set to undergo season-ending surgery. Chapman will need surgery to repair a core muscle tear, plus a hernia.
He ended his season by batting .235 with seven home runs over 307 at-bats.
IL moves
Mets closer Devin Williams was placed on the injured list with a right shoulder strain.
Caleb Kilian, acquired by the Phillies at the deadline, was put on the IL with a left oblique strain.
The Rangers placed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day IL with right posterior elbow inflammation.
Rockies outfielder Tyler Freeman was placed on the IL with lumbar pain.
Other notes
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated that catcher Will Smith, currently on the IL, could take batting practice later this week.
Astros infielder Carlos Correa has been cleared to hit off a tee (h/t Houston Chronicle). Correa, who was believed to be done for 2026 for months, recently expressed optimism that he can return this season.
