The start of the Minor League week saw several high-profile players start up rehab assignments, including Rangers shortstop Corey Seager. But the most notable injury-related news on the day came in New York, as Aaron Judge was out of the lineup for the Yankees.
Judge out with bone bruise
The Yankees were without Aaron Judge for the first time this season.
Judge is dealing with a bone bruise in his right rib cage that’s caused shoulder soreness for the reigning AL MVP.
He is scheduled to see a specialist on June 3, per manager Aaron Boone.
Baldwin possible for June return
Braves catcher Drake Baldwin could be activated during the team’s next homestand that starts on June 16, per manager Walt Weiss (h/t MLB.com).
Baldwin has been out since mid-May with an oblique strain.
IL moves
The Padres placed outfielder Ramon Laureano on the 10-day IL with right hip inflammation.
Athletics reliever Brooks Kriske was placed on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
Braden Shewmake of the Astros was placed on the 10-day IL with a right adductor strain.
Nick Pivetta (elbow) and Carlos Correa (ankle) were transferred to the 60-day IL.
Rehab assignments
Both Corey Seager and Wyatt Langford went 1-2 with Double-A Frisco. Langford walked twice in that contest.
Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar went 0-3 with a walk and a strikeout for Triple-A Memphis.
Mets infielder Jorge Polanco went 0-3 with a walk for Triple-A Syracuse, as the team’s designated hitter.
Cubs outfielder Matt Shaw went 0-3 with Triple-A Iowa. Shaw played in center field during that contest.
Moving on to the pitchers, Justin Verlander struck out three over five scoreless innings (64 pitches) for Triple-A Toledo. Verlander averaged 94 MPH and topped out at 95 MPH.
Rhett Lowder struck out eight over five innings (70 pitches) for Triple-A Louisville. The Reds pitcher averaged 94 MPH.
Twins pitcher Cole Sands struck out one over a scoreless inning for Triple-A St. Paul.
Quinn Priester struck out four over 3.1 innings for the team’s ACL affiliate. Priester allowed two hits and two walks.
Other notes
Zach Neto (neck), Josh Naylor (back), and Maikel Garcia (hamstring) were not in their teams’ lineups.
Jesus Sanchez (wrist) also did not start, although he did come in as a pinch-hitter.
