The Yankees were one of the main attractions on Lou Gehrig Day, as New York started what will be a one-week gauntlet with the Guardians. The two clubs will have two series against one another over the next 10 days, and Cleveland came on top in Yankee Stadium.

Guardians defeat Yankees

The Guardians defeated the Yankees 9-4 in the team’s first meeting of the year in The Bronx.

Cleveland was able to chase Cam Schlittler in the fifth inning, marking his shortest outing of the season. Schlittler gave up five runs (four ER) in the game, highlighted by a two-run shot by Kyle Manzardo in the fourth, and a Jose Ramirez RBI double to give Cleveland the lead permanently.

The Guardians’ bullpen tossed five scoreless innings in the win.

Harrison bests old team

Brewers pitcher Kyle Harrison struck out 12 batters over 5.2 IP, besting the Giants, the team that he came up with.

Harrison gave up only one earned run in the contest, thanks to a solo home run from ex-Brewer Willy Adames. That lowered his ERA to 1.57, which would put him second in the Majors had he qualified.

And yet again, the Brewers had another good offensive day in an 8-3 victory. Five Brewers had two hits in the game.

Pirates put up 10 on Astros

The Pirates beat up on Michael Burrows, formerly with the team, before he was shipped off in December 2025. Pittsburgh defeated the Astros 10-6.

Three Pirates went deep. Endy Rodriguez hit his first of the year, Oneil Cruz hit his 14th, and Brandon Lowe picked up #15 off Bryan Abreu in the eighth inning.

Bubba Chandler picked up the win, and Gregory Soto nabbed his eighth save after he needed to bail Dennis Santana out in the ninth.

Dodgers get one back in Arizona

The Dodgers defeated the Diamondbacks 6-5.

Freddie Freeman hit a two-run home run in the first, and Shohei Ohtani drove in two thanks to a triple one inning later.

Braves win 41st game

Bryce Elder outdueled Kevin Gausman to give the Braves their 41st win of the season.

Elder struck out over 6.2 IP, in what was a good overall start despite some ups and downs. Kazuma Okamoto got to Elder in the second, as the Blue Jays’ infielder hit a two-run shot in the second for his 13th home run.

Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson each had two hits. One of those hits for Olson was a solo blast off Gausman.
