Both the Dodgers & Yankees saw key players leave early on September 16. Blake Snell, one of the league’s hottest pitchers, was pulled early in Cincinnati. And in Minnesota, Aaron Judge left with a leg injury.
Judge left with leg tightness
Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was removed on September 16 against the Twins with right lower leg tightness.
Judge indicated that his leg began to flare up in the first inning. He continued to play into the sixth, when he believed it would be a good idea to get out of the game.
The reigning AL MVP also stated that he’s continuing to ramp up after being on the IL so long, and this is the kind of issue that would normally pop up early in the season. Judge does not believe he’ll need imaging done.
Snell exits
Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell was pulled early against the Reds due to groin tightness.
The good news for Dodgers fans is that Snell indicated after the game he should be fine to make another start before the end of the regular season.
Montgomery dealing with wrist bruise
The White Sox announced that infielder Colson Montgomery was removed against the Guardians with a wrist bruise. He was pulled shortly after getting hit by a pitch in the fourth inning on September 16.
X-rays on his wrist came back negative.
IL moves
The Orioles placed infielder Jackson Holliday on the 10-day IL with left wrist inflammation, retroactive to September 15.
Kaelen Culpepper of the Twins was placed on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain.
Angels pitcher Samy Natera Jr. was placed on the 15-day IL with left forearm inflammation, retroactive to September 13.
Mets reliever Daniel Duarte was placed on the 15-day IL with a left hamstring strain. Additionally, Robert Stock is on the IL with finger numbness.
Rehab assignments
Anthony Santander (back) did not play again for Triple-A Buffalo, the second straight he was held out of the Bisons’ lineup.
Dodgers reliever Edwin Diaz tossed a scoreless inning for Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing one hit. Diaz averaged 98 MPH and capped out at 99 MPH.
Brewers pitcher Grant Anderson tossed a scoreless inning for Triple-A Nashville.
Other notes
Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell was scratched with neck tightness.
Cardinals outfielder Joshua Baez was removed early with left side tightness.
Hunter Goodman (thumb) and Chase DeLauter (wrist) were not in their respective teams’ lineups.
