For the second time in 2026, Juan Soto hit the injured list. That was far from the only injury-related news from the day, as the Yankees saw Cody Bellinger exit, and Shohei Ohtani’s return to a pitching mound was delayed.
Ohtani’s bullpen session postponed
Dodgers TWP Shohei Ohtani (knee) did not throw his scheduled bullpen session. According to the Dodgers’ manager, Ohtani was not 100 percent.
During the FOX national broadcast, manager Dave Roberts indicated that the club remains confident that Ohtani will pitch again this season.
Yankees deal with another injury
Cody Bellinger was removed from the Yankees’ game on July 25 after he suffered a left hamstring injury. While he insisted that it’s not a serious injury, Bellinger will undergo additional testing.
Soto to IL
The Mets placed outfielder Juan Soto on the 10-day IL with a left calf strain.
Interim manager Andy Green indicated that it’s a Grade 2 strain, which will keep him out for at least three weeks.
IL moves
The Guardians placed reliever Shawn Armstrong on the 15-day IL with a left calf strain.
Rangers third baseman Josh Jung was placed on the IL with a left calf strain.
Phillies reliever Tanner Banks (forearm strain) was transferred to the 60-day IL.
