Tampa Bay had a golden opportunity to tie the 2026 World Series and send the series back to Florida 1-1. Instead, the Brewers clawed back for another comeback win, pushing Milwaukee to a 2-0 lead in the Fall Classic.
Brewers take 2-0 lead in World Series
Logan Henderson was hit around in the first, as Chandler Simpson‘s RBI single in the first inning of Game 2 gave Tampa Bay their first lead of the series. Junior Caminero drove him in with an RBI single of his own. Liam Hicks, the next batter, hit a two-run shot to make it 4-0 in the first inning.
Drew Rasmussen was gifted a four-run lead heading into his first World Series. However, the first inning — and the start itself — was a bumpy ride, led largely by the Brewers’ offense.
William Contreras and Garrett Mitchell each hit RBI singles in the first to cut the lead in half. An error by Jonathan Aranda in the fourth made it 4-3, and Rasmussen (20% Whiff%, 22.5% CSW%) had himself a short night.
In the sixth inning, Sal Frelick tied the game with a solo home run off Ian Seymour.
The Brewers wound up taking the lead in the seventh inning, as Cooper Pratt delivered an opposite-field RBI single that drove in Brice Turang.
Milwaukee’s bullpen has been a strong spot throughout the postseason. That held true in Game 2. Logan Henderson went just three innings, which tasked the relief core with tackling the rest. Brewers relievers wound up tossing six scoreless innings.
Aaron Ashby (45.5% Whiff%) struck out three over 1.2 IP and finished the game, which earned the lefty his third save of the playoffs.
What’s ahead?
October 25 will be a travel day for the Brewers and Rays. Game 3 of the World Series will take place on the 26th when the series shifts to Tropicana Field. Robert Gasser (Brewers) and Freddy Peralta (Rays) are the scheduled starters.
