June 1 marked the start of an important series for both the Los Angeles Dodgers & Arizona Diamondbacks. But it also marked a milestone for Jacob deGrom, who notched his 100th MLB win in St. Louis.
Rangers & deGrom victorious
Jacob deGrom struck out eight over five scoreless innings, and the Rangers’ bullpen held on to secure a 2-1 victory. It marked the 100th career MLB win for deGrom.
The Rangers’ two runs came in the fourth & fifth innings. Ezequiel Duran doubled in the fourth to drive in Brandon Nimmo, and a Joc Pederson single one inning later extended the lead.
Masyn Winn blasted a solo home run in the sixth for the Cardinals’ lone run.
Arizona bests Dodgers
The Diamondbacks defeated the Dodgers 4-1 in Arizona.
Los Angeles scored the first run but couldn’t muster anything else against Eduardo Rodriguez & the bullpen. Tommy Troy tied the game with his first career home run, and then Nolan Arenado‘s solo home run in the seventh gave the D-Backs a 2-1 lead.
Ketel Marte‘s two-run home run in the eighth finished off the scoring for the D-Backs.
Brewers blow out Giants
The Brewers scored 16 runs in a blowout, 16-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Seven Brewers had two or more hits for Milwaukee. David Hamilton and Christian Yelich each had three hits, while Jackson Chourio had two hits and three runs batted in.
Jake Bauers was the only hitter in the Brewers’ starting lineup not to have a hit. However, he walked four times.
As for the Giants, San Francisco’s pitching staff couldn’t do anything to hold off the Brewers. Starter Landen Roupp walked five, gave up eight hits, and total runs over four innings. The Giants’ bullpen conceded eight more runs after that.
