The Braves won their league-leading 45th game of 2026, as Atlanta had some help off the bench to get past the Pirates. Plus, the upstart Cardinals won again, while the Yankees picked up a win against rival Boston in The Bronx.
Harris II comes off the bench & delivers
Atlanta scored three runs in the seventh to finish a 3-2 win over the Pirates, coming back from a 2-0 deficit.
The hero of the day was Michael Harris II, who didn’t start because he was nursing a back injury. But it was Harris II who drove in all three of the Braves’ runs off a bases-clearing double off reliever Evan Sisk.
Bubba Chandler struck out seven over 5.1 IP of relief after Mason Montgomery started the game as an opener.
Cardinals sweep Reds
The Cardinals closed out their series against the Reds with a 5-3 win.
Rhett Lowder walked five but didn’t allow a run over three innings. However, the Cardinals were able to capitalize later on, as Bryan Torres hit a two-run home run off Chris Paddack.
St. Louis is now two games in the plus in the NL Wild Card race. If the season were to end today, the Cardinals would be in control of the first Wild Card spot in that league.
Yankees win after rainout
One day after rain squelched the scheduled Red Sox/Yankees game, New York (AL) won 6-1 over the Red Sox.
Cam Schlittler (5.2 IP, six strikeouts, one ER) and Ranger Suarez (6.1 IP, six strikeouts, one ER) both pitched very well. However, the Yankees were able to get to Boston’s bullpen, highlighted by a Cody Bellinger solo shot off Justin Slaten, followed by a Jazz Chisholm Jr. homer against Joe La Sorsa.
Angels take final game vs. Dodgers
The Angels ended the season series with the Dodgers by winning 13-5.
It was a good day for several players, including Sebastian Rivero. Rivero had five hits and six RBI for the Angels. Jose Siri had three hits, while Jo Adell had four, one of which was a home run.
Los Angeles’ bullpen gave up 11 earned runs. That bullpen had to shoulder most of the load, as starter Emmet Sheehan went just 1.1 IP for the Dodgers.
Jump strong for A’s
Before the first of two home series in Las Vegas over the next week, the Athletics shut out the Astros 5-0.
Gage Jump struck out three and tossed 6.1 scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 2.45. Nick Kurtz hit his 12th home run of 2026, while Brent Rooker picked up his 10th.
The A’s are one game out of a playoff spot.
