The Athletics received their first glimpse of what Las Vegas could be like in the future, as the franchise started its one-week tour there on June 8. And the first game had fireworks, as both the Athletics and Brewers combined to score nearly 30 runs in Game #1.
A’s & Brewers combine for 29 runs
For the first time in 30 years, MLB contested a regular-season contest in Las Vegas, the future home of the Athletics. The A’s are in Vegas for one week, and if the first game is any indication to come, expect a lot of offense.
Milwaukee and the A’s combined for 11 home runs and 29 total runs in a game ultimately won by the Brewers 15-14 in 12 innings.
Nick Kurtz and Tyler Soderstrom each had two-home run games, while Shea Langeliers led off the game for the A’s with a 483-foot bullet to left field.
Brice Turang hit his 10th home run of 2026 and also drove in the game-winning run on a fielder’s choice.
Sanchez wins 8th game
Phillies ace Cristopher Sanchez struck out 10 over seven innings against the Blue Jays. That performance helped Sanchez win his eighth game of 2026.
The Phillies scored five against Toronto. Two of those runs came off a two-run shot from Adolis Garcia off Patrick Corbin.
Ernie Clement hit his seventh home run of 2026, a solo shot that came off Sanchez in the fifth inning.
Houston wins in extras
The Astros were able to come back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Angels 5-3 in extra innings.
Houston evened things up at three thanks to a Cam Smith double in the sixth, until Zach Neto hit his 13th home run in the seventh. But the Astros were able to push one across in the ninth thanks to a Christian Walker single, and another in the 10th to finish out the win.
Trey Mancini, who played in his first MLB game in three years, picked up three hits and an RBI.
Yankees take opener in Cleveland
A two-run single from Cody Bellinger helped give the Yankees a 7-5 win in Cleveland.
Paul Goldschmidt and Ryan McMahon both hit home runs for the Yankees. As for the Guardians, Angel Martinez hit his 10th of the year off Paul Blackburn.
