Texas picked up some additional organizational depth, as former Major Leaguers Marco Gonzales and Austin Wynns are now with the team. Plus, the Red Sox signed Andrew Knizner, and the Rays took on a struggling pitcher from St. Louis.
Rangers sign two
The Rangers signed Marco Gonzales and Austin Wynns to Minor League deals.
Gonzales, who last pitched in the Majors back in 2024, had a rough ride with El Paso in the Pacific Coast League. The veteran lefty posted an ERA of 7.99, although he didn’t concede that many home runs (six), given the nature of the PCL.
Wynns played six games with the Braves this season.
Boston signs Knizner
The Red Sox signed catcher Andrew Knizner to a Minor League contract.
Knizner, who’s bounced around the league over the past few years, has not played in a Major League game this season. He put up good numbers in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season, as Knizner slashed .279/.371/.590 with 10 home runs and 18 extra-base hits this season for the Rockies’ Triple-A affiliate.
