Thanks to injuries, the Blue Jays have had to make do with who is healthy at the MLB level. But on May 27, Toronto added some bullpen help, as the Jays acquired reliever Connor Seabold from the Detroit Tigers.

Blue Jays’ moves

The Blue Jays traded for pitching depth, as Toronto acquired Connor Seabold from the Tigers for Minor League reliever Juanmi Vasquez.

Seabold pitched well out of the Tigers’ bullpen this season, as the right-hander induced a lot of chase and does have four pitches. He posted a 3.45 ERA and averaged nearly a strikeout per inning.

Vazquez, a 22-year-old reliever, is primarily a three-pitch pitcher between a low-90s fastball, a changeup, and a slider. High strikeout totals last year but he walked a lot of hitters in High-A this season, as Vasquez allowed 16 free passes over 23 innings.

Additionally, Toronto is set to call up infielder Charles McAdoo, per Sportsnet. McAdoo was acquired two years ago from Pittsburgh for Isiah Kiner-Falefa. His prospect stock fell last year after a lot of swing-and-miss & strikeouts but McAdoo lowered the K% this season. Plus, a 14% BB% with Buffalo this season.

McCutchen DFA’d by Rangers

The Rangers signed Nicky Lopez to a Major League deal on May 27. To replace him on the 40-man roster, Andrew McCutchen was designated for assignment.

McCutchen signed with Texas on a Minor League deal back in March after the Pirates moved on from him. He made the Rangers’ Opening Day roster but slashed .192/.277/.260 over 37 games.
