Atlanta cut one of their most-used relievers over the past few years off their 40-man roster on August 18. It was one of the notable moves made on the day, which also saw some Minor League signings.
Kinley & Wynns DFA’d
The Braves were busy on August 18. Catcher Chuckie Robinson signed on a minor-league deal, AJ Smith-Shawver was recalled, and Tyler Kinley was designated for assignment.
Atlanta re-signed Kinley, a key piece of the club’s 2025 bullpen, this past January after the club opted not to pick up his club option. Overall, Kinley struck out 42 over 42.2 IP and had an ERA just a tick above 4.00. However, he allowed nine home runs this season.
Additionally, the Rangers designated catcher Austin Wynns for assignment.
Recalls & options
Will Banfield (Reds), Carlos Duran (Royals), Antwone Kelly (Pirates), Taylor Rashi (Athletics), Braxton Fulford (Rockies), and Emmet Sheehan (Dodgers) were recalled from the Minors.
Zach McCambley (Reds), Mason Barnett (Athletics), Noelvi Marte (Reds), Isaac Mattson (Pirates), Lucas Erceg (Royals), Quinn Mathews (Cardinals), and Chayce McDermott (Mets) were optioned.
