Griff McGarry’s second stint with the Phillies did not last long. Weeks after he was returned to the Philadelphia organization, the Phillies traded McGarry to the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was one of many moves made on the 14th.

Dodgers acquire McGarry

The Dodgers acquired pitcher Griff McGarry from the Philadelphia Phillies on April 14. In return, the Dodgers sent back international signing pool money.

McGarry was the Nationals’ lone 2025 Rule 5 Draft pick, made months after the right-hander had a resurgent season in the Minors as a starting pitcher prospect. However, McGarry did not make the Nats out of camp and was returned to Philadelphia.

The right-hander walked seven over four innings with the Lehigh Valley bullpen before the move.

Rays signed ex-Dodger Grove

The Rays announced that the team signed Michael Grove to a Major League deal.

Now 29 years of age, the former second-round pick was one of the Dodgers’ better pitching prospects at the turn of the decade. Between 2022 and 2024, Grove pitched in parts of three seasons and vastly overhauled his arsenal, as he ditched his high-ride fastball and heavily incorporated a cutter and sinker into his arsenal.

When he was healthy, he pumped a mid-90s two-seam that played up with extension. However, he gave up a fair bit of hard contact in 2023 and 2024.

Grove missed all of last season recovering from shoulder surgery.
