Mason Miller won’t have a chance for revenge in Game 3 of the 2026 NLDS, as the Padres’ closer isn’t on the active roster for now. Miller went on paternity leave, meaning that San Diego had to add a replacement reliever before their game against Milwaukee.
Miller placed on paternity list
The Padres placed Mason Miller on the paternity list, requiring him to miss Game 3 of the 2026 NLDS against the Brewers.
It’s the second time during this round that the Padres saw a pitcher head to the paternity list. Before the start of the NLDS, Walker Buehler gave way temporarily on the roster for the birth of his child, which pushed fellow right-hander Randy Vasquez to be on duty in the interim
Left-hander Wandy Peralta will replace Miller on the roster.
Sheehan recalled
The Dodgers recalled pitcher Emmet Sheehan from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Sheehan, as of now, is not on the Dodgers’ active postseason roster. He was exceptional down the stretch for Los Angeles, as the right-hander struck out 24 over 17 innings in September. Additionally, his .53 ERA was the lowest among starting pitchers with 15+ IP thrown in that month.
However, Los Angeles optioned him in late September.
Other notes
On October 5, five more players elected free agency. Those players were Aaron Brooks (Rays), Seth Martinez (Red Sox), Owen Miller (Cubs), Bailey Falter (Braves), and Aramis Garcia (Diamondbacks).
