A hand fracture for Andy Pages opened up a roster spot for Alek Thomas, recalled by the Dodgers on August 22. In other transactions-related news, Matt Waldron was claimed by the Washington Nationals.

Waldron lands in Washington

The Nationals claimed pitcher Matt Waldron off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Waldron is on his third Major League team this season, as he spent the past few weeks with the Blue Jays after he was designated for assignment by the Padres. The right-hander was scoreless in his first two outings with Toronto. However, he allowed five earned runs over his last 2.1 IP (two outings) with the club.

Thomas back in Majors

The Dodgers recalled reliever Alek Thomas from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Thomas was in Triple-A since May, when the Dodgers acquired the former top outfield prospect in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Over 55 contests with the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, Thomas slashed .296/.362/.493 with seven home runs and 27 extra-base hits.

Recalls & options

Deyvison De Los Santos (Marlins), Christian Moore (Angels), Gustavo Campero (Angels), and Quinn Mathews (Cardinals) were recalled from the Minors.

Max Schuemann (Yankees), Logan Driscoll (Marlins), and Davis Schneider (Blue Jays) were optioned.

Other notes

The Twins signed reliever Ron Marinaccio to a Minor League deal. Marinaccio was assigned to Triple-A St. Paul.

Rockies pitcher Parker Mushinski was sent outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Braves released reliever Tyler Kinley.

Lastly, the Mariners designated pitcher Jhonathan Diaz for assignment, a move that cleared a 40-man roster spot for Kade Anderson.
