After a tough run with the Milwaukee Brewers, Luis Rengifo will look for a rebound with the Padres. Rengifo, after one week in the Minors, is back up in the Majors after his contract was selected on July 8.

Rengifo selected by San Diego

The Padres selected the contract of infielder Luis Rengifo from Triple-A El Paso.

Rengifo had eight hits, two of which were home runs, across six games with El Paso before his promotion. The move comes a week after the Padres signed him to a Minor League deal.

Minor League signings

Matt Bowman is back with the Twins, as he signed with Minnesota on July 8. Bowman was originally released by Minnesota in late May and signed with the Blue Jays a week later. The righty was released by Toronto on July 4.

Former Astros and Mets farmhand Grae Kessinger signed a Minor League contract with the Pirates.

The Angels signed outfielder Pablo Reyes to a Minor League deal.

Recalls & options

Rafael Flores (Pirates), Victor Mederos (Braves), Jesus Rodriguez (Giants), Alan Rangel (Phillies), and Tobias Myers (Mets) were recalled.

Hunter Dobbins (Cardinals), Seth Johnson (Phillies), Connor Thomas (Braves), Robert Gasser (Brewers), and Max Muncy (Athletics) were optioned to the Minors.

Other notes

The Mets designated reliever Matt Seelinger for assignment. Jared Shuster (Cardinals) and Donovan Walton (Angels) were also designated for assignment.

Additionally, the Mets selected Xzavion Curry for Triple-A Syracuse.

Will Benson (Reds), Chadwick Tromp (Braves), and Carlos Carrasco (Braves) were outrighted to Triple-A.
