After bouncing around the Rays and Marlins over the last two years, Christopher Morel reportedly signed with the Mets. And he wasn’t the only notable MLBer to find a new home, as Luis Rengifo is back on the West Coast.
Mets add Morel
Per The New York Times and the New York Post, Christopher Morel signed a Minor League deal with the Mets.
Morel, who’s bounced around several analytically-friendly teams over the past two years, spent 22 games with the Marlins this season. He slashed .162/.219/.206 with three extra-base hits (no home runs) for the Marlins.
Rengifo to San Diego
The Padres signed Luis Rengifo to a Minor League deal.
Rengifo, who spent 2026 with the Brewers after seven MLB seasons with the Angels, was one of the few players in baseball with significant PAs who had not hit a home run this season. The Brewers ultimately cut him in mid-June.
