Philadelphia opted to retain former Marlins outfielder Bryan De La Cruz, as he re-signed with the club on July 5. That was one of several notable moves made on the day.

Phillies re-sign De La Cruz

The Phillies signed Bryan De La Cruz on July 5, one day after he was released by the team.

It was simply a procedural move, as De La Cruz was given a Major League deal and subsequently was added to the 40-man roster. He originally joined the team on a Minor League pact in the winter and spent all of 2026 with the IronPigs to this point. Now, he can become an option for a Phillies’ outfield that’s shorter on bodies with Adolis Garcia done for 2026.

The ex-Marlin slashed .254/.345/.426 with 12 home runs and 25 extra-base hits over 77 contests with the IronPigs.

De La Cruz was optioned back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Contract selections

The Mets selected former Cardinals reliever Guillo Zuniga from Triple-A Syracuse.

Pitcher Eddy Yean was selected by the Nationals from Triple-A Rochester.

Pirates pitcher Noah Murdock was selected from Triple-A Indianapolis. He was optioned back to Indianapolis afterwards.

And yes, Carlos Carrasco is back with the Braves, as Atlanta selected his contract from Triple-A Gwinnett.
