March 27 was a busy day across Major League Baseball. Several players who were non-roster invites in the spring but did not make an MLB roster found homes. The White Sox, meanwhile, reunited with reliever Bryan Hudson via the waiver wire.
Hudson claimed by White Sox
The White Sox claimed left-handed reliever Bryan Hudson off waivers from the Mets.
Just two years ago, Bryan Hudson was one of the best relievers in all of baseball. Hudson had the seventh-best opponents’ wOBA (.218) that season, one figure from a season where he posted a 1.73 ERA.
Hudson induced more swing-and-miss off the fastball last season on paper. However, that was a rare positive from last year. The 28-year-old only pitched in 16 MLB games split between the Brewers and White Sox. He missed time with a back strain and walked 13 over 15 innings.
The left-hander walked three and conceded five hits over 3.1 IP with the Mets in spring action.
Minor League signings
The following players signed Minor League deals on the 28th:
- OF Sergio Alcantara (Phillies)
- RP Ryan Brasier (Rangers)
- RP John Brebbia (Twins)
- RP Andrew Chafin (Reds)
- SP Peter Lambert (Astros)
- OF Oscar Mercado (Phillies)
- C Tomas Nido (Tigers)
Peter Lambert is back with the Astros. The former Rockie, who spent 2025 with Yakult in the NPB, triggered an opt-out clause in his deal with Houston this month after he didn’t make the team out of camp.
Ryan Brasier also re-signed with his old team, as the right-hander was with the Rangers during 2026 Spring Training. Brasier gave up 12 hits, one of which was a home run, over 7.1 IP with Texas in camp.
Tomas Nido, who spent 2026 in Tigers camp, will report to Triple-A Toledo.
The Twins signed John Brebbia, who was with the Rockies in Spring Training. Brebbia struck out 11 over nine innings.
Andrew Chafin, who did not make the Twins out of camp, signed with the Reds.
Other moves
Astros catcher Cesar Salazar was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land.
The White Sox went Tyler Gilbert outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Ben Rortvedt and Vidal Brujan were also outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse.
