Jake Rogers is now on his fourth Major League team this season. The veteran catcher joined the White Sox on August 14, after spending time with the Tigers, Orioles, and Red Sox this season.
Rogers now with White Sox
The Chicago White Sox claimed catcher Jake Rogers off waivers from the Boston Red Sox.
Rogers has been a bouncing ball over the last month. Detroit designated him for assignment in July, traded him to the Orioles shortly thereafter, and then packaged him days later to Boston as part of the Adley Rutschman deal completed at the deadline.
Now, he’s back in the AL Central with Chicago, where he’ll provide catching depth for a club that presently has Edgar Quero and Drew Romo.
Yankees sign Topa on MiLB deal
Justin Topa could be headed back to New York, as the veteran reliever was signed to a Minor League deal by the Yankees on August 14.
The LIU-Brooklyn product pitched for multiple organizations this season. Topa started the year with the Twins before he was released in the spring. Since then, he pitched with the Blue Jays and Royals’ Triple-A affiliates.
Topa was assigned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
