Now that the 2024 MLB season has concluded, it’s time to hand out some hardware. Major League Baseball began to unveil award winners for the 2024 season in the World Series with the Roberto Clemente Award. On November 4, the league and Rawlings confirmed the AL and NL Gold Glove Award winners. So, here’s a look at all the MLB award winners in 2024.

Contents

MVP Awards

Aaron Judge (AL) and Shohei Ohtani (NL) were the MVP winner of their respective league.

Both Judge and Ohtani were unanimous winners.

Cy Young Award Winners

Tarik Skubal (AL) and Chris Sale (NL) won the Cy Young Awards in 2024.

There wasn’t much a shock, here. Both Skubal and Sale won their respective league’s Triple Crown for pitchers, given to a pitcher who finishes first in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. Skubal won the 2024 AL Cy Young Award unanimously.

Managers of the Year

Stephen Vogt (AL) and Pat Murphy (NL) won the Manager of the Year Award for their respective league.

Both Vogt and Murphy led their teams to a division title as first-year managers.

Rookies of the Years

Luis Gil (AL) and Paul Skenes (NL) won the Rookie of the Year Awards in 2024.

Relievers of the Year

Emmanuel Clase (AL) and Ryan Helsley (NL) won the Reliever of the Year Awards.

Helsley led the National League and all of baseball in saves (49). Clase, meanwhile, finished first in the AL in saves (47).

Comeback Players of the Year

White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet (AL) and Braves pitcher Chris Sale (NL) won the Comeback Player of the Year Award in their respective league.

Crochet missed all of 2022 thanks to Tommy John surgery recovery and returned late in the 2023 season. The Sox moved him to the rotation, where he thrived as a college pitcher at Tennessee, a move that worked out quite well for both parties. Crochet struck out 209 over 146 innings and was a 2023 AL All-Star.

Sale has dealt with his own injury woes. The lefty missed all of 2020 thanks to Tommy John surgery and made 11 regular-season starts between 2021-22. He had more injury problems in 2023, his last year with the Red Sox. Boston traded Sale last winter to the Braves.

Sale excelled with the Braves. The lefty led the NL in wins (18), ERA (2.38), and strikeouts (225).

Award winners were confirmed on November 12.

American League Gold Glove

Fourteen players were first-time Gold Glove winners in Major League Baseball, including Bobby Witt Jr. Witt Jr., who was first among American League shortstops in Outs Above Average (+16), won the award at the position.

However, there are some repeat winners, including Steven Kwan and Andres Gimenez of the Guardians. It’s the third straight year Gimenez and Kwan won the awards, as Kwan has won a Gold Glove in each of his first three years. Gimenez, the MLB leader in OAA (+21) and AL leader in DRS (20), won it at the second base position yet again.

Cal Raleigh, the AL leader in DRS among catchers (17) won his first Gold Glove. The same can be said for Carlos Santana, who didn’t win one in his first 14 years in the Majors.

Both the Guardians and Mariners had two winners.

National League Gold Glove

Like the American League, several players won a NL Gold Glove for the third straight year. Ian Happ and Christian Walker won the honor for the third straight year.

As for other familiar names, Brenton Doyle won a Gold Glove for the second straight season. And in San Francisco, Matt Chapman won his first NL Gold Glove. Chapman won four AL Gold Gloves between his time in Oakland and Toronto.

Two Giants and Brewers won a 2024 NL Gold Glove.

Among DRS, every player in the top six (Turang, Gimenez, Bailey, Chapman, Raleigh, Abreu) won a Gold Glove.

The Gold Glove Awards Show aired on ESPN.

Platinum Glove Winners

Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (AL) and Brewers infielder Brice Turang (NL) were the Platinum Glove Award winners. The Platinum Glove is awarded to the best fielder in each league.

Roberto Clemente Award

Royals catcher Salvador Perez won the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award. It is given annually to the player who demonstrated Clemente’s “commitment to community and understanding the value of helping others,” per the league.

Aaron Judge won the honor in 2023.

Hank Aaron Award

Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge (AL) and Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani (NL) were the winners of the 2024 Hank Aaron Award for their respective leagues. It’s given to the best offensive performer in each league.

Finalists for the most notable awards, including the MVP and Cy Young for both leagues, were announced on November 11. This article will be updated throughout November.
