Awards season across Major League Baseball continued on November 12. The league announced the Silver Slugger Award winners, given out to the player with the best offensive performance at their respective league and position. Among the winners include several former MVPs, plus individuals who could take home more awards this month.

American League Winners

Several previous winners of the Silver Slugger are listed among the AL group. Jose Altuve won his seventh, Aaron Judge notched his fourth, Juan Soto got his fifth, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. won his second. Jose Ramirez won his fifth and first since 2020.

There were, however, some newcomers. Free agent Anthony Santander took home his first. Brent Rooker blasted 39 home runs to win his first. Josh Smith, who filled in at third for Josh Jung for a good chunk of the year, also won his first Silver Slugger. Smith played at five different positions (2B, 3B. SS, LF, RF) this season.

Additionally, Bobby Witt Jr., the 2024 batting champion, won his first.

Seven of the top ten in the American League in total bases won a Silver Slugger.

The Yankees were named the best offensive team in the American League. Now, a look at the NL Silver Slugger winners.

National League Winners

Unsurprisingly, Shohei Ohtani (3rd time) won the DH Silver Slugger award after a 50-50 campaign. Ohtani was one of three Dodgers to win a Silver Slugger, joining Teoscar Hernandez (3rd time) and Mookie Betts. This is Betts’ seventh Silver Slugger, in a season where the former MVP played significant time at second, third, and right field.

Francisco Lindor, a NL MVP finalist, won the NL Silver Slugger at short for the second straight season. Former NL MVP Bryce Harper won his fourth and first since his full-time move to first base. Harper won the award last year as a DH.

The Dodgers won the best offensive award in the National League. The World Series champions finished second in runs scored and first in OPS.

Ketel Marte, Jackson Merrill, and Jurickson Profar are first-time winners.
