This coming June, some of the top college baseball players from around the country will congregate in Massachusetts for the 2026 Cape Cod League season. Here’s a look at when the season will start, plus other pertinent information.
Cape Cod League 2026 start date
The Cape Cod League announced in December 2025 that Opening Day 2026 will happen on June 13, 2026. All 10 teams will play on that day.
This is roughly in line with when it started in 2025, as last year’s campaign began on June 14.
How long does the season go for?
All 10 teams in the Cape play a 40-game schedule, which runs from mid-June through the beginning of August.
Playoffs for the circuit will begin on August 4, with the top four teams in each division qualifying for the postseason. There will be three rounds of best-of-three series throughout the playoffs.
The playoffs are expected to conclude by August 12.
2026 All-Star Game
The 2026 Cape Cod League All-Star Game will be held on July 18, 2026, at the home of the Harwich Mariners.
Teams and significance
There are 10 teams in the Cape Cod League. Those clubs are:
- Bourne Braves
- Brewster Whitecaps
- Chatham Anglers
- Cotuit Kettleers
- Falmouth Commodores
- Harwich Mariners
- Hyannis Harbor Hawks
- Orleans Firebirds
- Wareham Gatemen
- Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox
All 10 are clustered within the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts.
While several different summer collegiate baseball leagues contest games, the Cape Cod League is considered the premium destination for ballplayers. It’s a wood-bat league, important to note, given that those who hit well in the circuit generally raise their MLB Draft profiles by hitting with those.
The Cape Cod League has produced over 1,750 Major League players in its history. Todd Helton, Paul O’Neill, Lance Berkman, Kyle Schwarber, and Will Clark are among some of the notable alumni.
