The first few weeks of the 2025 MLB season cleared up at least some of this chart.
The big change in April came in The Bronx, as offseason acquistion Devin Williams imploded in his first month with the team. That led the Yankees to remove him in favor of Luke Weaver, one of baseball’s best relievers last season.
It sounds like a short-term move. However, if Weaver pitches well again, it may make things very interesting.
As of April 29, the White Sox have one reliever with a save. That would be Brandon Eisert, who got it in a rain-shortened game against the Twins.
Mike Clevinger came in as a potential option but was DFA’d in mid-April. Bryse Wilson and Cam Booser, both of whom were acquired last winter, have pitched well.
As for the Tigers, Beau Brieske got Detroit’s first save opportunity on March 28. Brieske proceeded to give up five runs in 0.1 IP, highlighted by a game-winning home run off Mookie Betts.
Since then, Tommy Kahnle owns a team-high five saves, while Will Vest notched three between April 19-26.

It had been a roughly even timeshare for the ninth inning in Arizona, even though A.J. Puk had more saves than Justin Martinez. Puk notched four saves over his first eight games, while Martinez had two. However, Martinez (4) and Puk (5) had roughly the same amount of games finished.
Puk is currently on the IL, and now Martinez is on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. Shelby Miller, despite a big blow-up in Philadelphia, looks to be the primary saves option in Arizona.
Moving on to other teams in the NL, David Bednar is back from Triple-A and picked up a save on April 25. And in San Francisco, Camilo Doval had himself a banner week in late April, picking up three saves and a win.
This chart will be updated throughout the year.
