We’re two months past the 2026 MLB Draft, meaning it’s time to do a quick status report on what the first-rounders were up to this summer. Yes, many first-rounders from the draft this past July didn’t get into action. However, several who did shone for their respective clubs.
A Look at the Stats
Here’s a look at the numbers on every single first-rounder from the 2026 MLB Draft, as of September 2026:

Major League Baseball considers Cole Carlon and Bo Lowrance first-round picks, even though one player (Logan Reddemann) was taken in the second round before the two came off the board. Both Toronto and Los Angeles (NL) had their first-round picks dropped 10 spots due to CBT overage penalties.
Notes
Out of the 39 players listed above, 18 (46%) did not get into a professional game this season. That number is down from 48% in 2025.
As expected, many of the high school and college pitchers either had very limited appearances or made no appearances. This is done to limit workloads.
There were also some high school hitters who didn’t debut, as well as three college hitters (Curiel, Gracia, Bell) in the top 10. Tyler Bell was on the IL.
As for those who did play, several of the top picks didn’t put up wild numbers. Roch Cholowsky and Grady Emerson each posted sub-.200 averages in A-ball. However, neither played many games.
Eric Booth Jr. hit well but was also one of the top groundball hitters in Low-A over the last five weeks of 2026. Drew Burress, the Athletics’ first-rounder, certainly had no problem elevating in the California League. Burress hit seven home runs with Low-A Stockton in the regular season.
Ace Reese and Ryder Helfrick both posted fantastic numbers in that circuit, as well. Helfrick, by the way, was one of the top Pull FB% hitters in Low-A from August 1 through the end of the year.
Logan Hughes not only put up great numbers but he was also one of the Low-A’s most consistent contact hitters.
Some players taken in the first round were able to get beyond Low-A. One of those was Justin Lebron, who hit eight home runs with Dayton in a small sample size.
One last note: out of the players listed above, Coleman Borthwick was the only one to make his professional debut in a postseason game. Borthwick made two appearances for 2026 California League champion Lake Elsinore in their playoff run. The right-hander struck out six over four innings.
