Team Colombia’s 2026 roster will look very similar to the one that the country brought to the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Gio Urshela and Guillo Zuniga are some of the returning players for Columbia, a team with a blend of experienced players, as well as some prospects.

Pitchers

Many familiar names are among the pitching staff for Team Columbia. Perhaps the two most notable pitchers are Julio Teheran and Jose Quintana.

Teheran, now 35 years of age, last pitched in the Majors in 2024, a year where only made only one start with the Mets. It wasn’t a strong one whatsoever, as the ex-Brave gave up four runs and six hits over 2.2 IP. This past year, the right-hander posted an ERA just south of 7.00 with Tijuana in the Mexican League.

Quintana remains one of the more notable starters left on the free agent market. The left-hander is no stranger to this, as Quintana didn’t sign with the Brewers last season until early March.

The ex-Brewer had a very typical season, one that featured not a lot of swing-and-miss but funky looks and speed changes. Quintana posted a sub-4.00 ERA before he gave up three earned runs over five postseason innings.

Aside from those two, there are many other pro pitchers on Columbia. Nabil Crismatt and Austin Bernger are on Minor League deals with the Rangers, while Luis Patino has MLB experience with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Columbia will also return Guillo Zuniga, on a Minor League deal with the Mariners. Zuniga made waves three years ago during the 2023 WBC as the right-hander, then a Cardinals prospect, overwhelmed with a triple-digit fastball.

Catchers

Quintana isn’t the only notable on this team looking for a new home.

Elias Diaz, a former NL All-Star who spent last season with the Padres, will vie not just for glory in the WBC but also for a destination for the 2026 MLB season. The 11-year MLB veteran slashed .204/.270/.337 with nine home runs and 16 extra-base hits across 106 contests.

Alfaro, a chase-happy catcher, is on a Minor League deal with the Royals. The former Marlin was named a non-roster invite earlier this winter.

Infielders

There are many prospects on the rise that will play in the World Baseball Classic this month. One of those marquee prospects is Michael Arroyo, a top prospect in the Mariners organization.

Arroyo tore through High-A last season, as he hit 15 home runs with Everett before he forced his way to Double-A.

Guardians prospect Dayan Frias will join him. The 23-year-old Frias slashed .216/.318/.318 over 119 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season.

Aside from those two, Team Columbia’s roster includes longtime Major Leaguers Donovan Solano and Gio Urshela. Solano split 2025 between the Mariners and Rangers, while Urshel was with the A’s before he was cut in August.

Jordan Diaz, also a former Athletics infielder, spent last season with Orix in the NPB. He picked up seven extra-base hits over 71 contests.

Outfielders

Gustavo Campero has MLB experience. The 28-year-old spent parts of two seasons with the Angels and will look to compete for a roster spot as a non-roster invite this upcoming spring.

Former Tampa Bay Ray Harold Ramirez spent last season playing for Don Laredos in the Mexican League. Ramirez slashed .359/.412/.496 over 96 games last season.
