Several of the Angels’ best pitching prospects will be with the big club for 2026 Spring Training — at least to start. Former first-rounder Tyler Bremner and George Klassen headline the group that was formally announced on February 4.
The prospects
Tyler Bremner will get his pro career started with a stint in big league Spring Training.
The right-hander, taken second overall by the Angels last July, is arguably the most notable name among the list of prospects. Bremner didn’t pitch in a game after he was signed out of UC Santa Barbara. He also won’t be the only 2025 first-rounder in an MLB camp, as Mariners pitcher Kade Anderson, along with Luke Stevenson, will be in Seattle’s camp.
The Angels also invited 2025 second-rounder Chase Shores and third-rounder Nate Snead.
Aside from Bremner, the other big pitching prospect in camp will be George Klassen, who finished 2025 in Triple-A. Klassen was one of the best swing-and-miss pitchers in the Southern League last season. And as we noted in our Angels farm review, Klassen has a big fastball that’ll sit in the upper-90s.
Groundball machine Chris Cortez, who has struggled with walks throughout his career, will be back in big league camp for the second-straight year. He’ll be joined by reliever Samy Natera, Austin Gordon, Joel Hurtado, and Jose Gonzalez
As for the hitting prospects, Nelson Rada, Juan Flores, Raudi Rodriguez, Marlon Quintero, and Omar Martinez will be in camp.
Rada, a 20-year-old outfielder, is knocking on the door. In 135 games between Double-A and Triple-A, Rada slashed .292/.398/.360 with two home runs and 25 extra-base hits last season.
His biggest assets are the speed — he swiped 54 combined bases last season — and the eye. Rada’s Chase% of 17.4% in Triple-A was among the top-35 among the over 700 players who saw at least 50 pitches outside the strike zone last season.
Flores, a 19-year-old catcher, hit 10 home runs last season for High-A. However, there’s a lot of swing-and-miss in his game.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, was a wrecking ball both in Low-A and the Arizona Fall League. This past fall, Rodriguez slashed .433/.514/.650 with 26 hits over 18 games in Arizona.
Other notables
Many former Major Leaguers will be in camp for the Angels in 2026.
Shaun Anderson, Nick Sandlin, Tayler Saucedo, Angel Perdomo, and Huascar Ynoa are among the pitchers. Both Sandlin and Saucedo have been successful relievers at the MLB level, as well.
Catcher Sebastian Rivero spent 11 games with the Angels last season. He’ll be joined by outfielders Niko Kavadas and Gustavo Campero, both of whom have also played for the Halos.
Trey Mancini, Yolmer Sanchez, Nick Madrigal, Donovan Walton, and Wade Meckler are among the other notable ex-Major Leaguers.
