Sony San Diego dropped its second in-season ratings and roster update for MLB The Show 24 on May 17. The update saw several players go Diamond, including Cease, Henderson, and one of the game’s hottest closers.
Seven MLB players went Diamond as part of the May 17 update. Dylan Cease (86 OVR, +3) Gunnar Henderson (84 OVR, +1), Cody Bellinger (85 OVR, +1), Emmanuel Clase (85 OVR, +3), Pablo Lopez (85 OVR, +1), Sonny Gray (85 OVR, +1), and Mason Miller (85 OVR, +9) all went Diamond in the May 17 MLB The Show 24 roster update.
The promotion of Miller to Diamond is arguably the most substantial one, given his meteoric rise and the fact he jumped up nine overall points. Miller struck out 38 batters over 18.1 IP and has routinely hit well above 100 MPH on this four-seamer.
As far as who went down, Austin Riley (83 OVR, -2), Julio Rodriguez (83 OVR, -2), Francisco Lindor (83 OVR, -2), Matt Olson (82 OVR, -3), and Corbin Carroll (81 OVR, -4) all fell beyond Diamond status and into Gold.
The steep drop for Carroll comes amidst a long slump for the 2023 NL Rookie of the Year. Carroll came into play on May 17 with a .539 OPS, well below the .868 OPS he recorded last year with the D-Backs.
Carroll’s not the only young outfielder off to a sluggish start. Julio Rodriguez is hitting .266 but has just two home runs and seven extra-base hits over 44 games to begin 2024.
As for other notable changes, Tarik Skubal and Tyler Glasnow each jumped up three points to 88 OVR, while Corey Seager went down three points to 87 OVR.
In addition to the roster update, Sony San Diego released a new Conquest map for the Guardians City Connect jersey. And, the second Lightning in Season 1, a 99 OVR Mookie Betts, was also made available.
