MLB The Show 25 Captain Blizzard: Program, rewards & new Captains

On November 14, Sony released the first Captain Blizzard Program, Drop 1, in MLB The Show 25. Captain Blizzard, introduced in MLB The Show 24, was a series of separate content drops that’ll include new Captains in Diamond Dynasty that ran through the end of January 2026. The first two Captains released were Baseball Hall of Famer Whitey Ford and former All-Star Brian Roberts.

Pitchers like Shohei Ohtani & Jacob deGrom are left-handed hitters, making them obvious choices to use here. Hitters include Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Brice Turang, Gunnar Henderson, and even Oneil Cruz.

Willy Adames, Pedro Martinez, Jose Bautista, Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Marichal, Junior Caminero, and Ketel Marte are among the many players in this game who were born in the Dominican Republic.

The good news is that there are several players, such as Chandler Simpson and Captain Brian Roberts, who meet the power threshold and are also fast.

As for the doubles requirement, players like Jose Ramirez, Lance Berkman, Rafael Devers, Brian Roberts, Freddie Freeman, Todd Helton, and Grady Sizemore meet it.

The young gun Missions are straightforward. Players like Hunter Greene, Jacob Misiorowski, Roman Anthony, Jackson Chourio, and Dylan Crews are all among the players who qualify for those.

Now, as for the batting title one, individuals like Aaron Judge, Trea Turner, Luis Arraez, George Brett, Lou Gehrig, and Ted Williams meet that criteria.

The 30-home run/30-stolen base one is simple. Players like Pete Crow-Armstrong, Shohei Ohtani, Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, David Wright, Willie Mays, Corbin Carroll, Jose Ramirez, Julio Rodriguez, & Bobby Witt Jr. are all among players who have a 99 OVR and meet that criteria.

As for the Perez-themed challenges, those are a little bit more complicated.

However, players like 99 OVR Bob Gibson, Ozzie Smith, Gary Carter, Ted Simmons, and George Brett are among the players who would work for those challenges.

The right-handed part of this is simple. Just filter by right-handed hitters/pitchers in the team select screen and go from there.

As far as the Venezuelan-born players are concerned, individuals like Luis Arraez, Ronald Acuna Jr., Jose Altuve, Bobby Abreu, Jackson Chourio, Salvador Perez, William Contreras, Andres Gimenez, Brayan Rocchio, and Gabriel Moreno are among the players who have a 99 OVR in Diamond Dynasty.

Imanaga boosts Asian-born players, as well as Lars Nootbaar and Tommy Edman. Both are Americans. However, the two play for Japan and Korea, respectively, internationally.

Pendelton boosts players who are 5’10” or shorter. To activate Pendleton’s boost, though, hitters who meet the height requirement are needed.

How to make progress

The Asian-born requirements are simple. As well as Nootbaar and Edman, players like Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Kodai Senga, Jung Hoo Lee, and Seiya Suzuki are among the ones who would be eligible.

As for the “short kings,” it gets somewhat trickier. Players who meet that requirement and have a 99 OVR in the game include Jose Altuve, Corbin Carroll, Tommy Edman, Jasson Dominguez, Alejandro Kirk, and Brian Roberts.

The second drop, which released on December 2, included two new 99 OVR Captains: Hal Newhouser and Eric Gagne.

Newhouser boosts players who suited up before 1970. Gagne boosts pitchers who had at least 45 saves in one season.

There ar several relievers in MLB The Show 25 who meet the 45+ save criteria, aside from Gagne. Edwin Diaz, Emmanuel Clase, Dennis Eckersley, Kenley Jansen, Ryan Helsley, Lee Smith, Bruce Sutter, Craig Kimbrel, and Trevor Hoffman are among that group.

As for the pre-1970 missions, players like 99 OVR Hall of Fame Ted Williams & 99 OVR Milestone John Donaldson in the Collections meet the criteria. For those who don’t have either, look for players like 99 OVR Babe Ruth, Josh Gibson, Larry Doby, Honus Wagner, Satchel Paige,and Lou Gehrig.

In fact, all of the Negro Leagues players would work.

Just like in MLB The Show 24, the first Captain Blizzard Program included two Captains who have unique boost requirements. Instead of a team and/or series requirement, these two boost based upon previous accolades achieved in the real world of Major League Baseball.

No Moments for this program. Instead, it’s all PXP and stat-based Missions.

Captain cards include the 99 OVR Yoshinobu Yamamoto Captain cards in the Postseason collection, as well as cards found in Color Storm, Neon, and My Journey (including Finest Collection Skenes & Raleigh).

Players who won a World Series MVP and are in MLB The Show 25 include Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Troy Glaus, George Springer, Corey Seager, Freddie Freeman, Jeremy Pena, Derek Jeter, Roberto Clemente, David Ortiz, Randy Johnson, Bob Gibson, & Rollie Fingers.

As for the 50+ stolen base marker, players like Tim Raines, Craig Biggio, Lou Brock, Rickey Henderson, Tony Gwynn, Elly De La Cruz, Brice Turang, Ryne Sandberg, Corbin Carroll, Shohei Ohtani, and Ozzie Smith are among players who fit that category.

It should also be noted that for those who have the 99 OVR Moonshot Luis Aparicio, he fits both the 50+ stolen base and Orioles Mission requirements.
