The countdown to MLB The Show 25 is on. San Diego Studio confirmed the cover athletes — yes, you read that right — for the game on January 28. Additionally, the developers confirmed other pertinent information, primarily affecting the availability of this year’s game.
MLB The Show developer San Diego Studio released the official cover of MLB The Show 25 on January 28, on social media with little fanfare. The cover for both the standard and Digital Deluxe features Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz and Gunnar Henderson.
The trio of stars all shared on Instagram a day earlier that they would be on the cover. It’s the first time in the game’s history multiple players have been on it.
MLB The Show 25’s cover features three of the best, young stars in today’s game. Skenes struck out over 200 batters in his rookie campaign and finished third in the NL Cy Young vote. De La Cruz led the Majors in stolen bases. Henderson hit 37 home runs and posted a WAR score of 9.1.
The initial detail reveal didn’t include any gameplay footage, nor features. However, some notable information was included.
MLB The Show 25 will only be available on current-gen consoles, the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, as well as the Nintendo Switch. From MLB The Show 21-24, Sony released old-gen versions for the Xbox One and PS4 but will ditch the consoles as a whole for 2025.
Additionally, the developers confirmed it will not be available on any platform subscription in 2025. Meaning, MLB The Show 25 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass, like it was in past years.
The first trailer for MLB The Show 25 will be released on February 4, the same pre-orders will go live. Early access via the Digital Deluxe Edition begins on March 14, with the worldwide release of the standard edition going live on March 18, 2025.
