MLB The Show 25 launched worldwide for standard edition owners on March 18 — also the date of the Tokyo Series. The 2025 Tokyo Series kicks off the regular season, as the Cubs and Dodgers will face each other for two games in Japan. To celebrate, the MLB The Show 25 team released a Tokyo Series-themed program on launch day, which included three Diamonds. Among the new cards was an 86 OVR Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

How to make progress

Much like with programs released in the past, one will need to complete a series of tasks. Here’s a look at the tasks for this moment:

  • Complete six Moments (30 pts. – 5 pts. each)
  • Player Missions:
    • Tally 10 plate appearances with 84 OVR Ohtani in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally 350 PXP with 84 OVR Ohtani in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally nine innings pitched with 85 OVR Imanaga in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally 500 PXP with 85 OVR Imanaga in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally 10 plate appearances with 85 OVR Suzuki in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally 350 PXP with 85 OVR Suzuki in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
  • Stat Missions:
    • Tally five hits with primary DH players in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally 20 strikeouts with starting pitchers in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally five extra-base hits with primary right fielders in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
  • PXP Missions:

    • Tally 1,000 PXP with Dodgers in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)
    • Tally 1,000 PXP with Cubs in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Ranked co-op, Weekend Classic, Diamond Quest, and Conquest (5 pts.)

Ideally, the plan of attack here is to complete the Moments, which will give 30/75 Star Points needed. Then, slot in the 84 OVR Ohtani into a lineup, whether it be for online or single-player action.

You should also use Cubs and Dodgers players in single-player action to get this done. There’s an 83 OVR Jackson Ferris in the Spring Breakout Program, as well as a 85 OVR Dalton Rushing in the Pipeline Program. And for those who are working on Diamond Quest, there’s an 85 OVR Matt Shaw in one of the challenges.
