While MLB The Show may have the simulation baseball game industry cornered in North America, a game of a similar ilk will be released later this year. Professional Baseball Spirits 2024-25, the official game of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league, will launch later this fall in Asia. Here’s what you should know for those in Asia and interested in the game in North America.
Release date
Professional Baseball (Yakyu) Spirits 2024-25 will be released on October 17, 2024.
The game was originally set to be released on September 19, 2024. That is no longer the case, as the developers confirmed a one-month delay.
This game comes three years after the release of eBaseball Pro Yakyu Spirits 2021, which was released on the Nintendo Switch.
Trailer
Here’s a trailer for the game, released earlier in the year, highlighting how the developers captured animations and scans for player models.
What platforms will it be available for?
The game will be available on PC and PlayStation 5.
How to play Professional Baseball Spirits 2024-25 in U.S.
This is where things can get complicated for North American baseball fans. Konami sells Professional Baseball Spirits abroad in Japan and Asia — however, the PlayStation Store in the United States does not have the game listed. Additionally, the game is inaccessible to U.S.-based Steam users.
Thus, the easiest way to play Professional Baseball Spirits 2024-25 would be to get a disc version of the game for the PlayStation 5. PlayStation 5 discs are not region-locked. However, be mindful that typically with games that launch in a certain region, one may not be able to unlock DLC without a region-specific profile that matches where the disc came from.

Additionally, we should note that it includes some bonuses, as those who pre-order the game can unlock the teams’ coaches. Additionally, there will be an early bird bonus who purchase the game before March 31, 2025. These three special players are not on NPB rosters. However, those who can’t unlock them before then can in the in-game PROSPI Shop.
Those players are Dodgers sensation and Team Japan player Shohei Ohtani, Dao-ho Lee, and Tai-yuan Kuo. Kuo won the most games in NPB history, while Lee cracked 472 career home runs across the KBO and NPB. Additionally, he hit 14 in 2016 with the Seattle Mariners.
