Week 15, the final week before the 2025 All-Star break, of the Minor League season ended on July 13. The full-season leagues will get a reprieve before resuming later this week. But before then, let’s take a look at what went down over the last seven days, including recent promotions & the 2025 Futures Game.
Big week for several Triple-A prospects
Don’t look now but some of MLB’s best prospects in Triple-A continue to rake.
Owen Caissie, who played just three games thanks to his participation in the Futures Game, hit three home runs over three games for the Iowa Cubs.
Samuel Basallo, the Orioles’ best catching prospect, led the International League in OPS (1.556) thanks to three home runs and six extra-base hits this past week.
Additionally, former first-round pick Spencer Jones (Yankees) and 2023 second-round pick Yohandy Morales (Nationals) also hit three home runs this past week.
Futures Game took place
The 2025 Futures Game took place on July 12, as the National League prospects won 4-2 over their AL counterparts.
It was a coming-out party for Dodgers outfield prospect Josue De Paula, who hit a three-run home run off White Sox prospect Noah Schultz to drive in Jesus Made, fellow Dodger prospect Zyhir Hope, and himself. De Paula won the Futures Game MVP award.
Additionally, it showcased several high-end pitching prospects, including Mariners switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cjintje, who struck out two over a scoreless inning, and Mets prospect Jonah Tong. Link Cjintje, Tong tossed a scoreless frame for the NL side.
Promotions & moves
It was a quieter week in terms of player movement. At least, compared to last week when several top prospects were promoted to new levels before the Futures Game. However, there was some notable movement.
Royals relief pitcher prospect A.J. Causey, a former fifth-round pick out of Tennessee, moved from High-A to Double-A Northwest Arkansas. Causey struck out 44 over 40.1 IP with Quad Cities and posted a .176 opponents’ batting average.
The Phillies, meanwhile, moved infield prospect Aroon Escobar to High-A Jersey Shore. Escobar, a 20-year-old who signed for $450,000 three years ago, posted a .829 OPS in Low-A and was a 10-10 player before the promotion.
And speaking of the Royals, former AL Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel is back in affiliated baseball. Keuchel signed a Minor League deal with Kansas City and was assigned to Triple-A Omaha.

- P Carlos Lagrange (AA/NYY): 15 strikeouts, one run over 10.1 innings
- P Jackson Ferris (AA/LAD): seven strikeouts, one run over six innings
- OF Homer Bush Jr. (AA/TB): 10 hits, four stolen bases across six games
- OF Jace Avina (A+/NYY): four home runs across three games
- P Ben Hess (A+/NYY): 14 strikeouts, one run over 7.1 innings
- P Karson Milbrandt (A+/MIA): 11 strikeouts, two earned runs over 5.2 innings
