The final week of July saw a significant shakeup across both the Major and Minor League landscapes. Thanks to the trade deadline and the conclusion of the Comple League seasons, a lot of players were on the move. Plus, several former first-rounders and notable prospects had great weeks across the Minors. Here’s the Week 19 MiLB recap for 2025.

Trades, trades, trades

The 2025 MLB Trade Deadline passed on July 31, as it marked the final day teams could trade for pieces to have for the stretch run and October. As expected, big prospects moved from one organization to another.

Arguably, the biggest name to move was Leo De Vries, the key piece going to the Athletics in the Mason Miller trade. De Vries, one of the best prospects in baseball, held his own in High-A as an 18-year-old and has come out of the gate strong with his new organization. The infielder picked up five hits over his first four games with Lansing (A+).

Aside from De Vries, other notable prospects were involved in the big trades.

Eduardo Tait was dealt to Minnesota along with Mick Abel, while Mets infield prospect Jesus Baez moved to St. Louis.

2025 Draft picks begin to debut

Now that 2025 picks have begun to settle with their new organizations, several have moved to full-season ball. Here’s a look at notables who were promoted over the last week:

Houston went 4-13 (.308) with five strikeouts over his first three games with Fort Myers (A). Voit went 1-6 (.167) with St. Lucie.

Promotions & moves

With the Florida and Arizona Complex League seasons in the books, we’re starting to see players filter their way up to full-season ball.

Nate Payne, a 19-year-old drafted last year by Miami and the FCL leader in strikeouts (55 over 39.2 IP), was promoted to Jupiter (A). Esteban Mejia, an 18-year-old pitcher in the Orioles’ system, was promoted to Delmarva (A). Mejia struck out 53 over 40 frames with the FCL Orioles.

Rockies infield prospect Roldy Brito, who hit .371 and finished second in the ACL with 67 hits, moved up to Fresno (A).

As for other notables to be promoted, Angels outfielder Nelson Rada was moved to Triple-A Salt Lake. Rada hit .277 with a .380 on-base percentage and 34 stolen bases in Double-A.

Tommy Troy, a first-rounder by Arizona two years ago, was moved to Triple-A Reno. Troy slashed .286/.382/.461 (.843 OPS) with 12 home runs with Amarillo (AA).

Mikey Romero, a first-rounder by Boston three years ago, was promoted to Triple-A Worcester. Miguel Bleis was promoted to Double-A Portland.

Additionally, some notable players were released over the last week.

The White Sox cut Noah Syndergaard, who was pitching in Charlotte (AAA), this past weekend. Syndergaard struck out 14 over 23.1 IP, all of which came out of the Knights’ starting rotation. The former All-Star touched as hard as 94 MPH in Triple-A but sat mostly in the 91-92 MPH range, a tick up from where he was two seasons ago.

However, he sported just a 16% Whiff%.

Meanwhile, the Cubs released Kenta Maeda. Maeda struck out 45 over 57.1 IP with Iowa (AAA) this season.

Miami, meanwhile, cut Brock Vradenburg this past weekend. Vradenburg was a third-round pick for the Marlins in the 2023 draft after hitting .400 for the Michigan State Spartans that season. However, he slashed just .172/.290/.279 (.569 OPS) for Beloit (A+) this year.
