It was a busy day for rehab assignments on August 3, as several notable pitchers were in Triple-A. However, the big news on the injury front revolved around the Brewers, as a star rookie hit the injured list.
Miz scratched, placed on IL
Arguably, the most notable news on the day was Jacob Misiorowski, who was scratched from his scheduled start on August 3 and subsequently placed on the injured list.
Misiorowski was placed on the IL with a shin bruise. Manager Pat Murphy stated the right-hander didn’t look right the whole week while throwing in his sessions after the rookie took a line drive off the shin from Seiya Suzuki.
Yankees lost reliever to IL
The Yankees placed reliever Jonathan Loáisiga on the 15-day IL with mid back tightness.
It’s retroactive to August 2.
Vargas heads to injured list
White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas was placed on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain.
The move is retroactive to August 2.
Rehab assignments
Tigers pitcher Jose Urquidy, who signed with the team back in March, made his organization debut on August 3 with Lakeland (A). Urquidy struck out one over one inning.
Orioles pitcher Kyle Bradish gave up six hits, one walk, and five earned runs over three innings (57 pitches) for Norfolk (AAA). Bradish hit up to 98 MPH in the outing.
Shane Bieber made his start in the Blue Jays organization on August 3 with Buffalo (AAA). Bieber threw 62 pitches and struck out six over five innings. He topped out at 94 MPH and averaged 93 MPH on his fastball.
Michael King threw 3.1 innings (61 pitches) for El Paso (AAA). King struck out five.
Other injury news
Braves infielder Austin Riley left the resumption of the Speedway Classic on August 3 after making a sharp playing going to his right in the 1st inning before tagging out Elly De La Cruz. He left with lower abdominal pain.
Rockies reliever Seth Halvorsen was placed on the 15-day IL with an elbow strain.
The Royals placed Steven Cruz on the IL with a right shoulder impingement.
Alejandro Kirk (Blue Jays), Daniel Lynch IV (Royals), Christian Moore (Angels), and Luis Gil (Yankees) were activated off the injured list.
