We’ve reached the end of the line for the 2025 MiLB season. By the end of this week, every single Minor League level will be done for the year. This past week was a wild one, as the Triple-A playoff schedule was finalized and A-ball teams won championships. Here’s a look at what went down (and what will go down this coming week).
Triple-A playoffs begin
This week will see the Triple-A playoffs begin — and end — in Las Vegas and Jacksonville.
Scranton (NYY) will face the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (MIA) in the International League final. It, as well as the Pacific Coast League final, is a best-of-three series contested in one location.
Game 1 will be on September 23 and feature a very good matchup between Brendan Beck and Robby Snelling, two pitchers who were on the upswing in 2025. Allan Winans (NYY) and Thomas White (MIA) are the Game 2 scheduled starters.
Meanwhile, the PCL final will see Tacoma (SEA) square off with Las Vegas (ATH) in Nevada.
The Triple-A Championship is on September 27, at 10 PM ET. Las Vegas Ballpark will host.
Updates on A-ball and Double-A playoffs
The A-ball season is officially over.
Brooklyn (NYM) and West Michigan (DET) won the South Atlantic and Midwest League titles, respectively. The Cyclones and Whitecaps swept their opposition to join Everett as High-A champions.
In Low-A, Lakeland (DET), Lynchburg (CLE), and San Jose (SF) won the Low-A titles. Lakeland and San Jose swept the Florida State and California League finals, respectively. Lynchburg won Game 3 against Columbia (KC) in the final after multi-hit games from Dean Curley, Nolan Schubart, and Anthony Silva.
Will McCausland, a seventh-round pick from 2025 out of Ole Miss, struck out seven over 3.2 scoreless frames to pick up the Game 3 win.
Meanwhile, in Double-A, all three finals could end on September 23.
Erie (DET) beat Altoona (PIT) to move to the Eastern League finals, and is in the midst of a three-game series with Binghamton (AAA). The Rumble Ponies swept Somerset (NYY) to move to the finals.
The Seawolves throttled Binghamton 14-5 in Game 1. Max Clark had two hits, while Kevin McGonigle and John Peck picked up three.
Midland (ATH) took a 1-0 lead against Springfield (STL) in the Texas League final. Joshua Kuroda-Grauer had three hits for the Rockhounds in Game 1. Leo De Vries, who’s hitting .583 in the postseason thus far, had two home runs to give him three in the playoffs.
The Montgomery Biscuits (TB) beat Birmingham (CHW) to take Game 1 of the Southern League finals.
Promotions & moves
There were not a ton of moves made this week, considering that only one level (Triple-A) had regular-season games to play. However, there were some notable promotions, given that fact.
Shortstop Colt Emerson moved to Triple-A Tacoma this past week, marking his second promotion of the season. Emerson hit .282 with a .790 OPS with Arkansas (AA) across 34 games. He had a great first week with the Rainiers, as he picked up eight hits and two home runs.
George Klassen, one of the two pitchers acquired by the Angels in the Carlos Estevez trade last summer, moved up to Triple-A Salt Lake. Klassen struck out 126 over 102.2 IP with Double-A this season.
The right-hander struck out eight over six innings for the Bees on September 16.
