On November 7, Sony San Diego (SDS) will release 2025 Finest captains in MLB The Show 25 Diamond Dynasty, kicking off the end-of-game lifecycle of the title. One day earlier, Sony announced first details on what’s to come in MLB The Show 26. It included updates on gameplay, Road to the Show, Storylines, and Diamond Dynasty.

New features to come for MLB The Show 26

Among the notes from Sony’s announcement was that the developers were focusing on adding new physics & functionality to the gameplay engine. The team stated that ’26 will have advanced logic, redefined player ratings, as well as new pitch effects and bat-to-ball physics.

Aside from the gameplay, MLB The Show 26 will feature the return of colleges to Road to the Show, which was added in 25. It’ll include new colleges — only eight were available in 25 — plus a heightened focus on the mid-to-late stages of a career.

For Franchise, SDS stated it was working towards “building deeper, more immersive, and challenging systems” that were shaped by community feedback.

The Negro League Storylines will also come back for a fourth season. MLB The Show has added new Negro League players since 2023.

Diamond Dynasty rewards for ’26 will come out soon

The development team also stated that MLB The Show 25 players can begin to earn Now & Later packs for 26. This is a return feature from MLB The Show 24, which allowed individuals to earn packs that also included vouchers for rewards in the following game.

Individuals who are signed up or will sign up for The Scouting Report by November 14 at 11:59 PM ET receive five Now & Later packs, good for 25 and 26. More opportunities to earn them will be added throughout the end of the MLB The Show 25 cycle.
